Warwick & Stratford

Today we went to Warwick and Stratford-Upon-Avon. Warwick has a great old Castle (top two pictures from top). It was original built by Bill the Conquer in 1096. There is a little bit of a Disneyland feel to the place but it was fun and interesting. I spent some time talking to the waterwheel/powerhouse guide. The Castle was one of the first places in England with electricity in 1895. It made its own power until 1940 when it was connected to the grid. We talked about horsepower, kilowatts, Coast Guard search and recue, “The Deadliest Catch.” It was fun. Then we drove down the road to the birth of Shakespeare; Stratford-Upon-Avon. We saw the home where he was born and the Church were he was buried (3rd picture). The town is a little Shakespeare tacky as you can tell from the shakes for sale in the picture below (may have to click on it to enlarge it).
